Bridal Makeup Do's and Don'ts

Wednesday, November 1, 2023

Hey, you’re getting married! Congratulations!

Maybe one of the many things on your mind right now is “How can I nail my hair and makeup for the wedding?” Don’t you worry! As bridal makeup artists in Houston, we’ve got some tips for you on important things to take note of before jumping into our beauty chair!

Let's start with the Do's:

1. Book a trial run!

This will give you the opportunity to try out different styles and looks before settling on the one that matches your vision! And schedule early so you have time to think on it and change your mind if you decide you like something better!

2. Make sure to prep your skin!

Building a good skincare routine for healthy skin should start months before your big day and will help make your skin look amazing. On your wedding day, your artist will prime and moisturize your skin and use long-lasting products for a flawless non-cakey finish that stays all night long.

3. Consider your wedding dress when choosing your hair and makeup style!

Your glam should complement your wedding dress so it looks more aesthetic and cohesive! For example, a romantic updo might complement a classic ballgown, while loose waves could go perfectly with a boho-chic wedding dress. Your artist can help you bring the whole look together.

Now let's go over some Don'ts:

1. Don’t experiment on the day of the wedding!

Your wedding day is not the time to try out bold or extreme styles that are completely different from what you’re used to. As much as possible, stick to what you did during your trial! Similarly, avoid trying out new skincare products too close to the wedding day, as it may cause unexpected reactions or breakouts. Schedule a second trial if you want to try someone completely different to make sure you love the look.

2. Don’t forget about your touch-up kit!

Make sure someone in your bridal party is assigned to carry your kit with essentials we provide on the day of(blotting papers, lipstick, and bobby pins in case any hair misbehaves during the celebration).

3. Don't rush!

Allow plenty of time to relax, enjoy the process, and make any necessary touch-ups! We provide a detailed schedule that gives padded time to make sure no one is rushing through your look! It’s your day, and you should be taking in all the joy in the world, including your glamming moment!

Ultimately, it’s YOUR special day, so make choices that make you feel confident and beautiful as YOU walk down that aisle. We’re here for all of it!
