The Real Me.

A look behind the scenes into my personal life

Let me introduce you two the two most important people in my life. My husband, Brion, of 8+ years and my baby girl Brooklyn who just turned 1!

Brooklyn was born on my birthday last year and since this year was iconic for the both of us, I thought we better document it! You would never guess from these photos that my toddler was running around everywhere, it was super windy, and we were racing with time to beat the crazy rain storm that came through right as we finished. So many amazing photos in only 30 minutes, and that included the time we spent changing my clothes 1x and Brooklyn’s 2x.

Brion is also a business owner of a Fishing Rod Company, www.impulserods.com. That means 2 parents both working almost all the time trying to keep two businesses going and make them successful. So, while he works during the week, I get to spend most days with Brooklyn, and when I work on the weekends, he gets to spend his “time off” with Brooklyn. The glamorous life of entrepreneurs! 😉

But we wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love my family more than anything else in the world and love every moment we get to spend together. This blog is about being real and I want to share that while these photos are very real in how they show the joy we share as a family, we have our struggles just like every other family. Sometimes life is hard and you just have to push through and strive toward what is really important. Priorities help to keep our focus on God when things get tough.

I love how my personal life is starting to creep into my business, but it’s definitely not as picturesque as these photos. Often clients will call and hear a crying or screaming 1 year old in the background. Since I am available to my clients 24/7, that means having the craziness of motherhood mixed in with that. But that means I get to stay home with my baby which is such an amazing gift. Juggling family and business is such a task and definitely something I’m still trying to figure out so that I can give 100% on both ends.

The days can get very long and tiring and sometimes I just have to stop and take a breath. I fall short a lot and even when I give it my all, I almost always see that I have so much more to learn. The everyday struggles, heartaches, and disappointments are what help me grow stronger if I power through, although most days that’s way easier said than done.

You might think that a professional hair and makeup artist should or does always look like I do in these photos, but the reality is that I might do my hair 2x a week if I’m lucky and makeup is usually foundation, mascara, and eyeliner if I even get the time for myself to put it on. I live in tshirts and comfy pants and just take it one day at a time. What you see in these photos is my passion and my work, but the reality is so real just like it is for so many of my clients. This is me: the good, the bad, the ugly! I pour passion into everything I do and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
